Waterbourne Witness: Elegies for My New Orleans
This series of collaged oil & fabric paintings was created in response to Hurricane Katrina. Each painting was exhibited with an essay with first person accounts of the disaster combined with insights about life in New Orleans. The exhibition travelled from venue to venue for nearly two years after opening at the Bloomington Art Center. A hard-bound book with a collection of essays and reproductions of the paintings accompanied the exhibition. A portion of the sales from both paintings and book was donated to Habitat for Humanity.
