Illustrated Books
A former travel columnist for the Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans, Shelley Holl has written and illustrated three books, most recent of which, The Minnesota Table, was published by Voyageur Press in 2010.
Shelley's first book, Louisiana Dayride: 52 Short Trips from New Orleans, a widely sold collection of her newspaper columns, was published by University Press of Mississippi in 1995. Waterbourne Witness was independently published in 2009 to accompany a traveling exhibition of Shelley's fabric and oil paintings on the subject of Hurricane Katrina.
Each book is a unique exploration of a genre: illustrated travel writing reworked into a guide book, literary essays created to support and illuminate mixed media art works and a celebration of local food through watercolors, photographs, essays and recipes.
